Hi, I’m Bennett Cohen “The Savvy Runner”, Co-Founder and President of the International Association of Women Runners.

I’m a veteran runner, women’s running coach and publisher of “Women’s Running Update”, the only weekly newsletter written specifically for women runners. I’ve been a runner for thirty-two years and have coached for the past nine, mostly with Marathon Dynamics (a Toronto-based training organization). Over the years, I have had the privilege to have helped over one thousand women runners of different levels of ability and experience achieve their goals and derive more benefit from running……the activity for which we have a shared passion.

Hi, I’m Gail Gould. Bennett and I are the Founders of the International Association of Women Runners.

I am proud to say that I provided the impetus for the creation, launch and publishing of Women’s Running Update. As chief advisor and editor, I’ve had the honour of contributing to every issue of Women’s Running Update since its inception.

Specializing in community development, I have worked professionally for over 25 years in creating safe communities for women.

Women’s Running Update

In early 2009, Gail urged me to use my extensive knowledge, and passion for running, along with my coaching experience to “do something” that would benefit significantly more women runners than I could as a group coach. That “something” was the birth of the online weekly newsletter for women runners, Women’s Running Update, which we have been publishing since June 2009. Every issue contains coaching secrets, articles and practical tips that YOU can easily apply to run faster, further and more consistently.

Women’s Running Update contains practical advice that is based on current research related to running and exercise physiology and how to easily apply it to enhance training and racing. Readers become more knowledgeable and better informed about:

  1. Training efficiently and effectively
  2. Health and nutrition
  3. Injury prevention and treatment

Ultimately, our goal is that you are better prepared to achieve YOUR objectives for running, training, racing and a healthy lifestyle.

Women’s Running Update strikes a good balance between reporting on running related research and the human side of running. Great work on the newsletter.

The International Association of Women Runners

The IAWR is the next step in the evolution of Women’s Running Update. The Association will greatly boost the number of women worldwide that are touched and positively affected by running’s transformative effect.

Bennett and Gail live in Toronto and have two university aged children.
